The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization UNESCO has launched an interactive educational resource African Passages on the legacy of the trans-atlantic slave trade. Using visuals, music, scholarly commentary and educational activities;
- connects the history of the Ashley River Corridor in South Carolina with its roots in Barbados and Africa;
- links the past to the present with the voices and images of the descendants of slaves; and
- reveals the persistence of African cultural heritage through practices and traditions handed down through generations.
